Product Description

Larkspur 'Earl Grey'
Delphinium consolida ajacis

This incredibly unique heirloom variety has been a spring cutting garden staple for a long time. Its giant flower spikes are smothered in the most exquisite dusty metallic-purple-grey petals that are like nothing else on the market. Florists fight over it, gardeners love it and there never seems to be enough to go around. A must grow!

Details:
Plant type: annual
Height: 36-48”
Site: full sun
Days to maturity: 110-120 days
Plant spacing: 6-9”
Pinch: not necessary
Approx seeds per packet: 100

How to Grow:
Direct seed in late fall or early spring or start seed indoors in trays 6-8 weeks before last frost and plant out while weather is still cool. Plants do best when sown directly in the garden. Cold tolerant, larkspur can be planted in fall in even the coldest corners of the world. Speed up germination by popping seeds in the freezer a week before sowing.

Harvesting/Vase Life:
Harvest when a third of the blossoms are open on a stem for the longest vase life. If preservative is used, you can expect larkspur to last a solid week. To dry, let all but the top three to four blooms open, then pick and hang upside down in a warm, dry place out of bright light for 2 weeks.
