Product Description

Sweet Pea Azureus
Lathyrus sativus azureus

Long vining stems are smothered in miniature cobalt blue pea-shaped flowers with dark gray streaking on the backs of the petals. While individual flowers are too short for cutting, full vining stems look incredible woven into flower arrangements. While the flowers don’t have any fragrance, they are worth growing for their unusual coloring and ability to double as a foliage.

*Please note: Unlike garden peas, sweet pea seeds are poisonous if ingested. Use caution around children and pets.*

Details:
Plant type: annual
Height: 36-48 inches
Site: full sun
Days to maturity: 60-75 days
Plant spacing: 6-8”
Pinch: when 6” tall
Approx seeds per packet: 10

How to Grow:
In mild areas seeds can be sown in pots in the fall, wintered over in a sheltered spot, and planted out in spring. Everywhere else, sow seeds 10-12 weeks before the last frost and plant out right around the last frost. Provide a strong trellis or support for vines to climb.

Harvesting/Vase Life:
For the longest vase life, pick once vines begin to flower and place directly into water. Tendril-covered stems can last up to a week in the vase.
