We grow plants very intensively here at Floret and fit a lot of flowers in very little space. Using landscape fabric burned with pre-set spacing is one of our secrets to success. While this practice spaces plants more closely than what typical growing instructions recommend, growers are rewarded with improved efficiency, longer stem length and reduced weed pressure.
We’re thrilled to finally have our signature fabric burning templates available to farmer-florists in the United States. These durable, easy to use templates were custom made by a local manufacturer to the exact specifications that we use here on the farm. We offer five custom sizes of our most commonly used spacing regimes. These fabric burning templates are a total game changer when it comes to using landscape fabric on the farm.
It’s important that the holes in the landscape fabric are burned, not cut. We highly recommend using a handheld Bernzomatic TS4000 Trigger Start Torch attachment which screws onto a 14 ounce disposable propane canister, available at your local hardware store. One canister will last a long time and the automatic trigger switch, while more expensive than the flint lit version, will pay for itself in no time.
This 6-by-6-inch template will give you 7 rows per bed and is perfect for single-stemmed crops like lisianthus, flowering cabbage and Bombay celosia.
