Larkspur Smokey Eyes

Product Description
Larkspur 'Smokey Eyes'
Consolida ambigua
‘Smokey Eyes’ appears to be a delicate antique with its icy pale lavender petals delicately edged with green. This sister to Earl Grey is as healthy and productive as any larkspur we’ve grown. One of the easiest cut flowers to grow, larkspur is cold tolerant and early to bloom, adding tall, colorful spikes to spring gardens.
*Please note: All parts of larkspur are poisonous, including the seeds. Use caution around children and pets.*
Details:
Plant type: annual
Height: 36-48”
Site: full sun
Days to maturity: 110-120 days
Plant spacing: 6-9”
Pinch: not necessary
Approx seeds per packet: 100
How to Grow:
Direct seed in late fall or early spring or start seed indoors in trays 6-8 weeks before last frost, and plant out while weather is still cool. Plants do best when sown directly in the garden. Cold tolerant, larkspur can be planted in fall in even the coldest corners of the world. Speed up germination by chilling seed in a refrigerator or freezer for a week before sowing.
Harvesting/Vase Life:
For the longest vase life, harvest when ⅓ of the blossoms are open on a stem. If preservative is used, expect larkspur to last a solid week. To dry, let all but the top three to four blooms open, then pick and hang upside down in a warm, dry place out of bright light for 2 weeks.
