Larkspur White Cloud
Larkspur ‘White Cloud’
Each ferny stem explodes into a spray of delicate white, orchid-like blooms. This hardworking filler adds a lovely country charm - move over baby’s breath! Great for mixed bouquets and arrangements, you’ll want loads of this variety so be sure to succession plant.
Plant type: hardy annual
Site: full sun
Days to maturity: 110-120 days
Plant spacing: 6-9”
Pinch: not necessary
Approx seeds per packet: 100
How to Grow:
Direct seed in late fall or early spring, or start seed indoors in trays 6-8 weeks before last frost and plant out while the weather is still cool. Plants do best when sown directly in the garden. Cold-tolerant, larkspur can be planted in fall in even the coldest corners of the world. Speed up germination by popping seeds in the freezer a week before sowing.
Harvest when a third of the blossoms are open on a stem for the longest vase life. If preservative is used you can expect larkspur to last a solid week. To dry, let all but the top three to four blooms open, then pick and hang upside down in a warm, dry place out of bright light for 2 weeks.
