Nasturtium Salmon Mousse
Nasturtium ‘Salmon Mousse’
These warm, salmon-orange flowers glow against dark green foliage and carry a delightful, subtle scent. Blooms open with a dark tone and scarlet throat, and while the color fades as they age, veining becomes more pronounced. ‘Salmon Mousse’ has a more mounding habit than other trailing nasturtiums, but stem length is sufficient for arranging, and it won’t overtake the garden. These beautiful nodding flowers are fantastic for floral design.
Plant type: annual
Site: full sun
Days to maturity: 80-95 days
Plant spacing: 12-18”
Pinch: not necessary
Approx seeds per packet: 15
How to Grow:
Start seed indoors in pots 4-6 weeks before last frost; transplant out after all danger of frost has passed. Nasturtiums are very sensitive to cold; wait until weather has warmed to transplant outside.
Harvest flowers just as they are opening for the longest vase life. If using the foliage, pick individual leaves or full vines once they become leathery or firm to the touch. Both flowers and foliage will persist 7-10 days in the vase, even longer if preservative is used.
