Shiso Purple Frills
Perilla frutescens
With striking, deep chocolatey-maroon foliage, this plant provides exceptional textural interest to arrangements. Leaves are crimped and curled with serrated edges. Flowers are nondescript, and this variety is a superb, scented dark foliage choice from mid summer through autumn.

How to Grow:
Freeze seed for 2-3 weeks before sowing to speed up germination. Sow indoors 4 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds shallowly or cover lightly, as light is required for germination.
Harvesting/Vase Life:
Harvest when foliage has become thick and stems are woody, or any time after a flower spike begins to emerge. Expect a vase life of 10-14 days if preservative is used.
